Amongst all animals on our wonderful Earth, we do not rank that highly when it comes to our physical attributes. We are not the fastest species. We are not the strongest. We cannot swim very fast and we cannot fly at all. We enjoy our position of dominance over all species on our planet as our intelligence enables an astonishing level of adaptability. We survive in some of the most inhospitable conditions presented on our planet, in both heat and cold. We are masters of problem solving, adjusting our lifestyle and adapting tools and materials to survive and thrive.
These skills as a species directly translate into our daily, modern lives. We are each faced with challenges, and we each can devise the method and means to deal with such challenges. Given these facts, why is it that so many of us are paralysed in the face of change? We have a rich ancestral history of an extraordinary level of adaptability in circumstances that most of us could not even imagine. And yet, even the thought of significant change for many of us brings on debilitating waves of anxiety and stress. All of this arises out of fear – fear of the future, fear of the unknown, fear of losing what we now have.
We need not surrender to these fears. We need not fear change.
The indisputable truth of our existence is this – Change is the only real constant in our lives. With every passing second, we change, our friends, family and community changes.
